Fashionfabled

Fashion is very important it is life enhancing and like everything that gives pleasure...it is worth doing well.   Today we hang out with  the lovely Waceke from Fashionfabled blog.

1) How can you describe your style?

  • Elegant, chic, edgy and classy

2) What are some of shopping rules you wouldn’t necessarily recommend to others but which you follow?

  • Do go shopping with a plan in mind of where you want to go and what you need to buy. You may come across other things as you look, but it's when you wander around the shops aimlessly that you get tired and fed up and come out with nothing but a headache and tired feet. Try and stick to your mission.(I agree with you on that point)

3) Was there a moment in your life when something “CLICKED” for you about fashion or dressing or hair? Yes What? Why did it happen then, do you think? ( didn’t get the question well)

  • Dressing- I went for a photo-shoot with a creased dress and I couldn’t deliver as per my client expected lesson learnt, always iron your IMAGE IS EVERYTHING

4) Are there any clothing (or related) items that you have in multiple? Why do you think you keep buying this thing?

  • Black leggings, I think I have over 10. One is never enough.

5) Is there any fashion trend you’ve refused to participate in and why?

  • The pajama trend. Why would I wear my sleeping gear out in public in the name of ‘A TREND’ (I for a minute thought it was cool but now naah haha)

6) Do you look up to anyone in terms of style/fashion, both locally and internationally?

  • Locally – Nanice Mwai
  • Internationally – Micah Gainneli

7) What are you grateful for?

  • Life, family and good health.

“It’s more important to look good everyday than to look different everyday” {RMRS}

Well I have said this like a million times now, lol, I know, but am just going to say it again! Men’s fashion is truly evolving. I mean gents of today take a minute to look good especially when it comes laying out an outfit, for some reason it feels pretty awesome. Today I have a chit-chat with such a cool guy, Ian Mugoya as he takes me through his style insights…

1) How can you describe your style?

  • I could say I’m current, not trendy just current.

2) What are some of shopping rules you wouldn’t necessarily recommend to others but which you follow?

  • Any rule that I follow I’d gladly share. Like shop assets first (things that bring money in e.g. start a business) and let the assets pay for the nice things (plush homes, time pieces, Bentleys etc.)…at the end of the day you will have both the assets and the nice things.

3) Was there a moment in your life when something “CLICKED” for you about fashion, dressing or hair? What was it and why do you think it happened then?

  • Yes, what clicked was that nobody needs to sweat the technique because character, service & relationships are what’s KEY whether one is wearing Gucci head to toe or not.(Smiles)

4) Are there any clothing (or related) items that you have in multiple? Why do you think you keep buying this thing?

  • I could say I possess everything in adequate numbers not that I buy frequently but maybe because I know how to keep things safe for a very long time (also not hoarding as I give and donate a whole lot too).

5) Is there any fashion trend you’ve refused to participate in and why?

  • I’ve not participated in most of them as I never go with the flow… I am the flow. *Laughs it off*

6) Do you look up to anyone in terms of style/fashion, both locally and internationally?

  • Style isn’t what I would really look up to in other people but for this questions sake I’d say Mark Zuckerberg same tee and pants every day, he must be saving a lot. (Well I’ve noticed that too am laughing off my seat)

7) What are you grateful for?

  • I’m grateful for so many things but main one is the breath of life as without it nothing else makes sense, right? (Yes!!I totally agree with you on this one)

Taraji

“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself {Coco Chanel}”

Today I'm focusing on the recently conducted award ceremony The OSCARS. One particular lady that really caught my eye…my favorite actress. We all have come to love her…having graced the most recent TV series' now…from her movies to her sense of style…to me she’s the whole package...Introducing to you the gorgeous Taraji P. Henson.

Looking back at some of her past and recent photos this lady never ages at all!!!She slays even when not appearing on the red carpet. What I love most about her sense of style is that she truly knows her body and dresses accordingly from well fitted dresses to serving us some thigh-high slit.

Did you see her Oscar outfit!? If not don’t worry I got you…”She wore Alberta Ferretti gown. The sleek and vampy off-the-shoulder midnight blue velvet gown was a far cry from the romantic and frothy semi sheer Reem Acra concoction she wore to last month's SAG awards  according to Vogue ”

And not only is fashion and style a thing….let’s talk about beauty for a moment…my madam landed a huge endorsement alongside Jussie Smollett with Mac Cosmetics dubbed Mac Viva glam. Something you might not know is that every cent from the selling price of M.A.C VivaGlam lipstick and lipglass has gone toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

P.S

Did you know that Taraji Penda Henson is an American actress and author!? Better known for her role as Cookie Lyon in the TV drama series Empire…Her latest inspirational film Hidden Figures (won a SAG Award for Best Cast) Some of her films include: Think like a man, No good deed, I can do bad all by myself, Ice age, Not easily broken etc.

She also won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for two Emmy Awards in 2015 and 2016.

Time named Taraji one of the 100 most influential people in the world. She released a New York Times bestselling autobiography tilted “Around the way Girl”

And above all she’s a mother of one handsome young man.

She listens to Hip-Hop music before heading out to the red carpet

Like I said in the beginning this lady is a whole package…am I the only one who is fascinated that her maiden name is a Swahili one Penda meaning love? Anyway if she happens to be your neighbor or friend pass my bear hugs and lots of love from a sister right here in Nairobi, Kenya!

Don’t change to fit the fashion, change the fashion to fit you {Inescapable Beauty}”

OUR STYLE STAR – The talented and stylish Martin Kimathi

“Clothes don’t make the man, but, they can make the man look great {Anonymous} “

This quote really connects with my sentiments when it comes to the gents fashion…I mean take a look around ‘our men’ of today are really evolving and you can’t disagree with that. Fashion wise it has grown tremendously….So today I got to have a chit-chat with the ‘Baddest Presenter’ Martin.

  1. How can you describe your style?

Urban suave (came up with that. Lol)

  1. What inspires your style?

My work and lifestyle. The weather plays a role as well…

  1. Which is the most valuable accessory/outfit do you own?

A Rolex watch (smiles at his watch)

  1. Ever experienced any wardrobe malfunctions?

Yeah. My line of work demands a lot, especially when it comes to wardrobe. So one day I tried too much and it was a fail (sighs)

  1. If you were given an opportunity to ban or get rid of one fashion trend….which one would it be and why?

Fit head caps. They are outdated right now

  1. What is that particular item/piece you can never miss in your wardrobe or outfit?

Cologne and at least 3 pairs of well-tailored suits which I hardly wear(laughs lightly)

  1. Any fashion/style secret you would like to share….Any fashion advice perhaps?

Don't get swayed in any fashion craze if you're not feeling it. Comfort must be a priority in what you intend to wear. Be authentic!

Our Dazzling Style Star

Our Dazzling Style Star Her Excellency Margret Kenyatta

“Style is very personal…It has nothing to do with fashion…. Fashion is over quickly…Style is forever.”{Ralph Lauren}

As I wrap up 2016, I have one more “Style Star” I would like to appreciate. We all love her, she has brought a huge difference in our lives starting by helping out the girl-child get education, our expectant mothers country wide to get free maternal health care (The Beyond Zero Campaign). Her office has been on out and about in trying to make our nation a better place.

Today I feature the one and only, The First Lady of Kenya (Mama Wa Taifa) Her Excellency Mrs. Margret Kenyatta …Her style is incredible, the way she simply adorns her outfits one can never go wrong. I personally admire the way she keeps it simple but elegant. From her casual look to outdoor events…I did a little bit of research (in regards to her outfits) you will see that she knows how to dress her body…very uniquely I must say.

Few of Her attires that caught my eye was one during the Madaraka Day celebration…dazzling in a red dress with black embroider details on it, blending in perfectly with a black and red head gear and a black shawl placed on one hand side with complimentary accessories.

I promise you that her style is so amazing I can’t settle for one outfit cause she rocks all of them, so, well you know it’s very hard to pick one.

As I bid you goodbye for now this has been a good year and wanted to end our last piece this year reflecting on one of the most powerful women in leadership not only praising their works but also something different like their sense of fashion and style…..and for such amazing Style Stories you can only get it here at Kaytietela.com (Remember to subscribe) to our newsletter for daily updates.

All I can say is Her Excellency Margret your sense of Fashion and Style is incredible at this moment no words can explain or describe it. You’re amazing, gorgeous and beautiful I swear my eyes are a bit teary right now and there’s so much joy that warms my heart.

“Elegance is the only beauty that never fades”{ Audrey Hepburn}

Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable, style is more about being yourself {Oscar De La Renta}

Ooh gents you thought I had forgotten all about you?!.....I got you and this Christmas I'm looking forward to seeing you slay out your outfits…you know, from the official wears to gorge casual looks, I mean it’s the holidays and time to keep them ties at bay!

Today I met up with one of the rising male fashion bloggers and this is how our interview went down…..

1) How can you describe your style?

My style is classy and conservative and this is due to my tendency of keeping it simple and shying away of from extremely bold colors.

2) What inspires your style?

My inspiration mostly comes from the society; most people take me seriously when I’m all dressed up in a nicely fitting suit.

3) Which is the most valuable accessory/outfit do you own?
That  has to be shoes, I’m a sucker for shoes and I heard that people can tell the type of person a man is by the type of shoes he wears.

4) If you were given an opportunity to ban or get rid of one fashion trend…which one would it be and why?
Kitenge suits. Reason being it’s just disrespectful to the suits and can’t stand them, if I’m buried in a kitenge suit I would wake up from the dead and remove it.(sigh)

5) Ever experienced any wardrobe malfunction?

Yes there was this one time I bought plastic tussle  loafers that gave me blisters, was unable to walk in them so had to wait until it got dark …walked  bare foot because I couldn’t take the pain any more (laughs hysterically)

6) What is that particular item/piece you can never miss in your wardrobe or outfit?

A nice watch (stares at his like…DAMN!)

7) Any fashion/style secret you would like to share…Any fashion advice perhaps?

If and only if you have to put on a suit, make sure it’s the right fit that will complement your physique and keep it simple sometimes less is more.

Miss Amita

The lovely Miss Amita

Fashion and style is a diverse language we all speak one way or the other…it can be verbally or at a glance…just like Rachel Zoe says “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak”

As you might know by now, my love  for fashion and style is derived by my passion and I'm  all about learning and borrowing a few tips from various individuals around the globe…Today we cross over to a Country in the Caribbean, Jamaica, as we speak to the beautiful Miss Amita….

1) How can you describe your style?

My style is eclectic, tends to boil down to my mood.

2) What inspires your style?

I think as I mature as a woman, inspiration changes

3) Do you look up to anyone in terms of style/fashion, both locally and internationally?

I wouldn’t say I look up to anyone fashion wise, I love simplicity though. So anyone with a classic played down style would appeal to me.

4) Ever been in impulse buying situation and afterwards the item purchased you’ve never used it. If yes…then what was it?

If I buy it, I will wear it at least once. (Smiles lightly)

5) Do you happen to have that outfit that you can ever be caught in mostly wearing in public?

I have an oversized old grungy flannel shirt that I stole from my dad, I wear that ALL THE TIME mostly on my down time.

6) Imagine you were given a free 5 minute shopping spree in one of the most prestigious boutique stores the likes of Givenchy, H& M, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, Macy’s etc what would you grab and why?

If I were to grab pieces in general, I would choose brighter more jewel toned pieces, silhouettes that cater to a more shapely woman. (Smiles, laughs)

7) Any fashion /style secret would you like to share…Any fashion advice perhaps…

I would say wear what you like…if it doesn’t give you confidence, then maybe it isn’t the outfit for you.

Miss Lerato

Today we cross countries to talk to this young and vibrant lady…full of life, a warm heart and talking to her is a delight….

“In a world full of trends…..I want to remain a classic {man} …..Am reminded of this quote as I chit chat with the lovely Miss Lerato Pheladi Thusi who hails from the beautiful land of South Africa…..

1)  How can you describe your style? My style is both lady like and playful, feminine as it is I also enjoy being sporty. My style is also very laid back and comfortable.

2)  What inspires your style? My style can be a bit more of street style and is usually inspired by  everything that surrounds me. What I wear is mostly inspired by personal style , fashion trends and of cause what I find myself most comfortable in.

3 )  Do you look up to anyone in terms of style/fashion ,both locally and internationally? I wouldn't specify as to who exactly I look up to in terms of style/fashion , I just simply look up to all those trend setters who are not afraid or hesitant to think outside the box when it comes to fashion . I look up to different women both locally and internationally who puts effort in looking great in what they wear.

4) One thing that you can never ever buy or own in the name of fashion trends Wedge heels

5) Ever been in impulse buying situation and afterwards the item purchased you’ve never used it. If yes…then what was it? All the time, this is one of my bad habits actually! I have a thing for buying items I never wear. I once bought a T-shirt dress, only to find out that I might just be a bit too small or short for those , I looked like I stole my dad’s T-shirt ( laughs ) I gave it away instead .

6) Do you happen to have that outfit that you can ever be caught in mostly wearing in public? Everyone knows how much of a jumpsuit person I am, I love being free and comfortable and this is that one outfit that allows me to be both (smiles lightly)

7) Imagine you were given a free 5 minute shopping spree in one of the most prestigious boutique stores the likes of Givenchy, H& M, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, Macy’s etc what would you grab and why? I would probably grab more shoes than anything else because like Russell Westbrook says “shoes make an outfit. You can throw on a crazy shirt and crazy pants but you add those shoes, done! And like I always say “I make shoe contact before eye contact” (I totally agree)

8 ) Any fashion /style secret would you like to share…. Any fashion advice perhaps…. My fashion advice is pretty simple, having style is much better than constantly waiting for new trends to come up because trends are seasonal but style remains uniquely yours “ fashion changes, style endures” Coco Chanel

Fashion secret: care a little less about what people think and watch how creative your wardrobe becomes

Have you heard that folks…don’t mind what people think about you do what you do best besides…fashion and style looks better when you feel good on the inside…don’t let anyone ever dull your sparkle….

Do not be into trends…..don’t make fashion own you…but you decide what you are” { Gianni Versace}
