“You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it.” – Edith Head

In a world that is dominated by men…its about time ladies got a seat at the table because we’ve earned it. Every time I think about this outfit what comes to mind is having a seat at the table…you know the big boy table.

I will keep it short and precise. The office dress code has evolved after a long time whereby wearing certain colors/particular wears was to go to. Now one can rock bright, fitting, heels any type of outfit that is comfortable for the day.

With this look I grab a pair of big-box checked pants, black-gold heels, white fitting shirt plus a cute little bow tie to emphasis on the look. This look also happens to be one of my April favorites.

If you think dressing up and showing up does not make you some type way, I’m sorry but you’re missing out big time. Learn to cheer up yourself it does really work. So, show up for that boardroom meeting /conference bossed up and kill it see how you’ll feel at the end of it all.

DINNER CHIC OUTFIT FOR THE LAID BACK CHIC CHICQ

DINNER CHIC OUTFIT FOR THE LAID BACK CHIC CHICQ

“You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it- Edith Head”
Today I don’t know what excites me more the fact that this shoot is done by three women or the final product…pretty much both. Dinner dates are my favorite especially night dates, I can’t even begin to explain. The night and beautiful stars makes it feel so possible to accomplish your life goals and dreams. Enough with what my heart yarns for and straight into the outfit of the day.
Off shoulder tops are life!I love this one in particular displaying the chic typa girl out of the ordinary routine or normal dinner dates norms. Paired it with some ragged pants, rubbers shoes and also switched it up with some gorgeous shinning heels. Chocker is handmade and accessory with simple earrings.
This location is just amazing for that perfect coffee date, lunch, business meeting and also dinner date. The butterflies on display are actually hand made by autistic children and the black and white sort of background is memoir of people who have been there. How sweet is that!

BRINGING BACK THE GROOVE 001

BRINGING BACK THE GROOVE 001

“Style is a reflection of your attitude and your personality-Shawn Ashmore”

Imagine posing on rocks!!!...Yes that was my vibe during this shoot and I loved it.

Who said office wear should be boring like who said it. So I gathered a few of my pieces and come up this outfit “office groove”.

Let’s talk high waist skirts…ladies you should have one of these in your closet if you don’t by now. I just love the idea of how it elongates your body…you know that curvy shape. A well fitted high waist skirt will do you justice.

Prints! Not just any but animal print…with some tiny straps showing off your shoulders…I mean it never hurt nobody. I love cheetah prints on it. And you can throw a coat if you’re not comfortable showing some skin.

Shoes: paired some brown shade heels to blend in with the whole outfit it’s a more neutral color instead the usual black I feel people tend to lean on trying not to explore.

Accessories: Just a pair of gold earrings works for me….I’m more cautious on the ‘less is more’ vibe.

Little black dress

Little black dress

“You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it- Edith Head”

The sound of crispy dried leaves gives me the feels…Nairobi is such a beautiful city. On location for today’s shoot is at the Arboretum gardens the heart of Nairobi. Being in front of the camera always feels super great at times the Tyra Banks in me just takes over you know (laughs)

This is a must have in your closet. So I recently got myself a cute LBD and paired with some nude heels. The good thing about this dress is the fact it’s quit free and comfortable like more of a free dress with no stress to it. Very sophisticated and can be worn at any particular function and still stand out.

As I’ve said repeatedly comfort is everything and if not feel great on you or spark joy then leaves it. Minimal accessories to kill this look. Also tried to pair it with some bata ngomas (rubber shoes) which is shown on the picture below, though for me the heels look gorge.

You can rock this outfit at a wedding, red carpet, night out with the ladies, cocktail parties and many more.

ROAD TRIPPING AND BEEN BOLD

ROAD TRIPPING AND BEEN BOLD

Fashion is like eating, you shouldn’t stick to the same menu…’’

Well this was supposed to be all about my road trip outfit till I had a second thought like, why not open up about my fair share of this world. So trying to kill two birds with one stone let’s get to it. This outfit will definitely wear it to that road trip with my girls. First you need to be comfy I don’t expect you to be in heels ladies.

So looking at this photos I decided to talk about my insecurities, been bullied, losing faith and learning to survive it all. Let’s talk bullies! This has to be the most devastating thing to go through…imagine growing up and your fellow schoolmates teasing you because you look a little different from them. Having been lighter well this felt wrong and they made me feel the same way, but you need to heal your scars at some point and get over it. Huh easy said than done my friends. It got to a point it didn’t feel right at all and hated the way I looked as you can a test to my previous posts this has to be the BOLD one right!?

Now I paired my romper with a kimono just to add a touch to my outfit….and the beret does it just right! My insecurities really got me, been all afraid about what people will say…afraid of been judged this is the worst feeling and it got to a point I lost faith in all of I was doing. Had to learn the art of working on myself, to better myself….this is all that matters. Look at this in summary not appreciating myself cause of my skin, body just because some humans were not.

This year I chose to be bold and go out of my comfort zone simply because things didn’t grow over here! My outfit paired with some rubbers because I’m all into comfy vibe these days. This is me learning to be comfortable in my own damn skin and living life!

If you like this type of blog posts where I do both real life stories/challenges while discussing outfits drop a comment.

Fashion High Tea 8th Edition 2018

Fashion High Tea 8th Edition (2018)

Self confidence is the best outfit, rock it and own it….

The day that it was rainy and cold but still got a chance to slay yeah. The 8th edition of Fashion High Tea love for a cause. I talked about the event on a previous post, so here is all about the outfit I wore to the event.

Something different a long thigh high slit print skirt and laced top to rock the day. Okay y’all know my love for prints (this was an excuse to wear it) don’t judge.

Got the skirt tailor made by a local Kenyan designer. Laced top to tone it down since my focus was all about the skirt. Paired it with some nude heels because it’s a well blend in tone and besides I love this pairs I mean look at them. Accessories I just went for loops just because less is more these days. And a clutch for the whole look.

The food was all good and in plenty lots of good music, fashion runway, different people all around come to support this good cause.

THE 8TH ANNUAL FASHION HIGH TEA 2018

THE 8TH ANNUAL FASHION HIGH TEA 2018

“Always keep your eyes open…Keep watching…Because whatever you see can inspire you {Grace Codington}”

The rains did not stop us from doing what we love most, Fashion. Besides, it was more of a charity event. Welcome ladies and gents to the Fashion High Tea 2018 “Love for a cause” held at Zen Gardens in one of the leafy suburbs in Nairobi.
All styles were in check, the food was in plenty and it was time in indulge as we awaited for the main event which was the run way. Fortunately I got myself a front row seat (yeeess, I mean it’s pretty much a big deal). Got me feeling like it’s the Fashion Week!

Different designers from Kenya, the U.K, India and from all over came out to show us their designers but two designers stood out. Personally, Zoe Sevak (Kenya) and the other one who I didn’t quite catch the name, let's call them Wanja's favorite. Lol
If only we had more of our very own designers out here show casing their talent placing Kenya on the map that would have been such a great honor.

I loved the ambiance...it been my first time at the event, for me it was worth it. Looking forward to doing it on an annual basis.
Now will let you go through the photos for more insights (I will do a recreation of my outfit of the day soon).
Well for this event I give it a rating of 8/10

TWENTY FIVE LIFE TREASURES

TWENTY FIVE LIFE TREASURES

Welcome to my most favorite place…where I just find my happiness and peace. As much of a  cliché as it sounds, today will be sharing my 25 life treasures that I hold dearly…This is more of a birthday special piece. Some are self explanatory others not so much …So lets get down to it, shall we?

  • Be yourself:We live in a world where people are trying to be carbon copies of others instead of being who they truly are.We often focus too much on the things that don’t build us,grow us nor even move us.Being yourself feels a whole lot different. Just living your own life without the pressures of trying to pretend much!...Everyone else is taken, be you!
  • Insecurities:This really took a toll on me …I remember few years back I had to battle 'flawed' skin on my face…but with time I learnt, it was perfectly fine to embrace 'flaws' and that way, no one could ever use this 'flaw' against me...'Flaws' can be categorized in different measures be it physical or emotional, however, never let anyone bring you down…you got you and you are perfect the way you are!
  • Family:Nothing beats family, there's even no competition …Keep your immediate family close to you, love them ,cherish them always.Family first.
  • Set goals:Learn to set your goals, if you can, jot them down…try as much as possible to achieve them…have a reason to get out of bed everyday.
  • Listen: Learn to listen to people talking to you, you may hear but not listen, you need to listen. I have had this issue for a while but hey, I’m working on it.Learn to listen.
  • Plan :it's about the destination ,not the journey, however, goals require systems ,processes, and structures to facilitate and achieve the end result, that is a plan.( I had to make it a bit clear on the difference.)
  • Do what makes you happy: Like I said this place makes me happy and this year I'm planning on blogging full time. There you go, dreams and goals already set!
  • Friends: Learn to keep your friends close they are your support system.
  • Love: we have loved and we’ve lost but what's most important is to learn to how love you and appreciate yourself.
  • Prayer: Keep God close to your heart let him guide you and you will see your life working out for the better.
  • Accountable: be accountable for your own actions and don't blame others for your own faults.
  • Confidence: there’s nothing as great and important as self confidence. Be a true believer for what you stand for.
  • Failure is good: we often try so hard to avoid failure but it’s the real evidence that we’ve tried.Well if you avoid failure, you avoid taking action, expect and accept and lets learn from our experience and move on!
  • Kindness matters:small expressions of kindness go along way.
  • Vulnerability heals: being real, open and vulnerable invites people in and allows them to relate with you in a more intimate level. This doesn't make you out as weak but real, however, choose wisely who you choose  to be vulnerable with!
  • Travel: it expands one's mind and this year I’m trying to do more of it.
  • Passion: it upgrades your life mostly when you do what brings to you joy. It spills over into all other aspects of your life.
  • Gratitude multiplies happiness and it fosters positivity and well being.
  • Perfection is boring…I’m such a perfectionist I must admit but this comes to things like arrangement of things but I’m more of a 'let it flow' person when it comes to the real life issues.
  • Little things matter: It’s the little things that matter most.Recently I had a surprise birthday dinner, which I’m still over the moon about. Like I said it’s the little things that counts.
  • Make everyday count: be conscious of the value of every single day.
  • Release attachments don’t become too attached to outcomes or beliefs.
  • Not every situation requires a reaction.
  • Self honesty is freedom: when in denial about something, you're blinding yourself to the truth.Be honest.
  • Find your purpose: you need to know what you’re supposed to do in this life…work your way into knowing that!

These are my twenty five life treasures which I hold dear. What are yours? I would like to know…leave a comment below.

THE ULTIMATE RED CARPET DO’S AND DONT’S.

“The joy of dressing is an art{John Gallaing}”

Well it’s been a minute…but here we are today will be talking about “the do’s and dont’s  on the red carpet”

On a brief note so….

  • SHOES:

This is the most important point to note…please try and get yourself a good pair of gorge heels not necessarily high but something “presentable” you feel me. I don’t expect you to walk in a 6inch heels, basically something that would make your feet wow happy feet .No flats here! that isn’t even up for discussion.

2)DO K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Starlett):

Go ahead; get minimal on the red carpet. This can be in terms of your accessories, hair and makeup.

3) DON’T BE BASHFUL:

You could choose fabrics that really do good on your body….simply now how to dress your body and for the occasion.Sheer, floral, velvet etcare some of the fabrics to play with.

4)Don’t feel like you have to wear a dress:

Not necessary for you to rock a dress you can definitely switch it up here and there…like a well fitted suit. Put your own twist on the menswear –inspired look…for Example Ellen DeGeneres ,AngelinaJolie, Selena Gomez  and many more.

5)Let your face also do the talking:

Get yourself a face beat wear that lipstick like a boss…as much as we’re focusing on the body wear doesn’t forget to work on your make up.

“Before you leave the house ,look in the mirror and remove one accessory {Coco Chanel}”

That’s my few tips on the red carpet…will do more soon…keep it here and will see you again…
