thank you note

This is it....This is me...this is my thank you note!!

Today I'm writing to you my loyal readers...As I sip on my glass of red wine let's get to it shall we?

I'm going to let you in on my journey so far...It all started when people on social media and on real world applauding my style...little did they know that there was a force in me that wanted to share my tips not only locally but internationally.

Friends really encouraged me but I felt that I wasn't ready to take on the challenge at hand. So in the midst of all this something out of the ordinary happened... on my way to work a lady stopped me for a minute and told me how impressed she was by my style and how I had adorned my outfits...this was my final kick to get my passion started.

Having fashion blogs widely existing, I had to switch to something different; incorporating personal insights from your favorite celebrities (some that happen to be mutual role models) /street style and fashion bloggers. I wanted a blog that caters for both ladies and gents.

As I wrap up my piece, 2016 has been a great year overall and 2017 is going to be greater, so many things I want to share with you my readers and also introduce lots more.

A big thank you to the Lord, my Website Manager, Chief Article Editor, and Photographers I have worked with, My Make-up Artist, Outfit designers, people I've interviewed, my friends, family and above all my loyal readers for positive feedback /encouragement.

Remember to keep it Kaytietela (subscribe to our newsletter)

Slay this festive season!!

Happy Holidays!

Love Kaytietela!

Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable, style is more about being yourself {Oscar De La Renta}

Ooh gents you thought I had forgotten all about you?!.....I got you and this Christmas I'm looking forward to seeing you slay out your outfits…you know, from the official wears to gorge casual looks, I mean it’s the holidays and time to keep them ties at bay!

Today I met up with one of the rising male fashion bloggers and this is how our interview went down…..

1) How can you describe your style?

My style is classy and conservative and this is due to my tendency of keeping it simple and shying away of from extremely bold colors.

2) What inspires your style?

My inspiration mostly comes from the society; most people take me seriously when I’m all dressed up in a nicely fitting suit.

3) Which is the most valuable accessory/outfit do you own?
That  has to be shoes, I’m a sucker for shoes and I heard that people can tell the type of person a man is by the type of shoes he wears.

4) If you were given an opportunity to ban or get rid of one fashion trend…which one would it be and why?
Kitenge suits. Reason being it’s just disrespectful to the suits and can’t stand them, if I’m buried in a kitenge suit I would wake up from the dead and remove it.(sigh)

5) Ever experienced any wardrobe malfunction?

Yes there was this one time I bought plastic tussle  loafers that gave me blisters, was unable to walk in them so had to wait until it got dark …walked  bare foot because I couldn’t take the pain any more (laughs hysterically)

6) What is that particular item/piece you can never miss in your wardrobe or outfit?

A nice watch (stares at his like…DAMN!)

7) Any fashion/style secret you would like to share…Any fashion advice perhaps?

If and only if you have to put on a suit, make sure it’s the right fit that will complement your physique and keep it simple sometimes less is more.

Miss Amita

The lovely Miss Amita

Fashion and style is a diverse language we all speak one way or the other…it can be verbally or at a glance…just like Rachel Zoe says “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak”

As you might know by now, my love  for fashion and style is derived by my passion and I'm  all about learning and borrowing a few tips from various individuals around the globe…Today we cross over to a Country in the Caribbean, Jamaica, as we speak to the beautiful Miss Amita….

1) How can you describe your style?

My style is eclectic, tends to boil down to my mood.

2) What inspires your style?

I think as I mature as a woman, inspiration changes

3) Do you look up to anyone in terms of style/fashion, both locally and internationally?

I wouldn’t say I look up to anyone fashion wise, I love simplicity though. So anyone with a classic played down style would appeal to me.

4) Ever been in impulse buying situation and afterwards the item purchased you’ve never used it. If yes…then what was it?

If I buy it, I will wear it at least once. (Smiles lightly)

5) Do you happen to have that outfit that you can ever be caught in mostly wearing in public?

I have an oversized old grungy flannel shirt that I stole from my dad, I wear that ALL THE TIME mostly on my down time.

6) Imagine you were given a free 5 minute shopping spree in one of the most prestigious boutique stores the likes of Givenchy, H& M, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, Macy’s etc what would you grab and why?

If I were to grab pieces in general, I would choose brighter more jewel toned pieces, silhouettes that cater to a more shapely woman. (Smiles, laughs)

7) Any fashion /style secret would you like to share…Any fashion advice perhaps…

I would say wear what you like…if it doesn’t give you confidence, then maybe it isn’t the outfit for you.

Miss Lerato

Today we cross countries to talk to this young and vibrant lady…full of life, a warm heart and talking to her is a delight….

“In a world full of trends…..I want to remain a classic {man} …..Am reminded of this quote as I chit chat with the lovely Miss Lerato Pheladi Thusi who hails from the beautiful land of South Africa…..

1)  How can you describe your style? My style is both lady like and playful, feminine as it is I also enjoy being sporty. My style is also very laid back and comfortable.

2)  What inspires your style? My style can be a bit more of street style and is usually inspired by  everything that surrounds me. What I wear is mostly inspired by personal style , fashion trends and of cause what I find myself most comfortable in.

3 )  Do you look up to anyone in terms of style/fashion ,both locally and internationally? I wouldn't specify as to who exactly I look up to in terms of style/fashion , I just simply look up to all those trend setters who are not afraid or hesitant to think outside the box when it comes to fashion . I look up to different women both locally and internationally who puts effort in looking great in what they wear.

4) One thing that you can never ever buy or own in the name of fashion trends Wedge heels

5) Ever been in impulse buying situation and afterwards the item purchased you’ve never used it. If yes…then what was it? All the time, this is one of my bad habits actually! I have a thing for buying items I never wear. I once bought a T-shirt dress, only to find out that I might just be a bit too small or short for those , I looked like I stole my dad’s T-shirt ( laughs ) I gave it away instead .

6) Do you happen to have that outfit that you can ever be caught in mostly wearing in public? Everyone knows how much of a jumpsuit person I am, I love being free and comfortable and this is that one outfit that allows me to be both (smiles lightly)

7) Imagine you were given a free 5 minute shopping spree in one of the most prestigious boutique stores the likes of Givenchy, H& M, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, Macy’s etc what would you grab and why? I would probably grab more shoes than anything else because like Russell Westbrook says “shoes make an outfit. You can throw on a crazy shirt and crazy pants but you add those shoes, done! And like I always say “I make shoe contact before eye contact” (I totally agree)

8 ) Any fashion /style secret would you like to share…. Any fashion advice perhaps…. My fashion advice is pretty simple, having style is much better than constantly waiting for new trends to come up because trends are seasonal but style remains uniquely yours “ fashion changes, style endures” Coco Chanel

Fashion secret: care a little less about what people think and watch how creative your wardrobe becomes

Have you heard that folks…don’t mind what people think about you do what you do best besides…fashion and style looks better when you feel good on the inside…don’t let anyone ever dull your sparkle….

Do not be into trends…..don’t make fashion own you…but you decide what you are” { Gianni Versace}

My outfit for the day is totally custom made by the lovely and talented Dedee Kal Fashions. White pants and peplum top with a touch of Ankara fabric paired it with some Laguna half-boots.

If you’re  planning to get yourself some Ankara outfits work with colors that blend perfectly with your skin tone to avoid clashing or having way too much going on.

My favorite tip,

Remember to always wear a statement piece or just a more fun item to your look.

Our Style Star Miss Njeri Kageni

Why change? Everyone has their own style. When you have found it, you should stick to it (Audrey Hepburn)

I got the chance to talk matters on fashion and style plus I learnt a few things from her…today we cross counties to speak to the lovely Miss Njeri Kageni who hails from the beautiful sites of Nakuru County……

  1. How can you describe your style?

I consider myself to be more like a style chameleon, with many different sides but sharing same essence unique, personal, constantly evolving and feminine with an edge

  1. What inspires your style?

How I wake up feeling that particular day. Remember there are really no rules that you need to adhere to when it comes to fashion  just make it your own, make it unique, tell a story and own it. That’s the true essence of a fashion lover.

  1. Which is the most valuable accessory /outfit do you own?

My watch… Not that’s its expensive but because it was a gift from a special person ….my lovely Mum (smiles at her watch)

  1. Ever experienced any wardrobe malfunction?

Not really

  1. If you were given an opportunity to ban or get rid of one fashion trend….which one would it be and why?

Definitely it’s SAGGING! {Laughs} I am a strong proponent of practical fashion and don’t get me wrong, I don’t take comfort over looks. I expect both as I look at fashion as practical art and it has to serve well both visually and functionally.

  1. What is that particular item/piece you can never miss in your wardrobe or outfit?

Lipstick

  1. Any fashion/style secret you would like to share….Any fashion advice

My style secrets add layers to your outfit...

Advice: create your own style instead of copying other people and importantly wearing clothes that fit.

PS

Is currently pursuing a journalism degree at the MKU plus she loves travelling, reading and is also involved in volunteer work.

Style is eternal
16Sep

Style is eternal

From his sense of style….to his music career….you can never mistake one that knows his true identity and is not afraid to show it.

Men with style are great because… they have a sense of self {quote- Lexa Doig} am reminded of this statement as I chit chat on fashion matters with Kagwe Mungai….

How can you describe your style?

My style is eternal a little bit interested in fashion it fades

What inspires your style?

I’m inspired by various different things. From our Kenyan heritage to my experiences with foreign culture .They’ve all contributed to the person that I have become.

Which is the most valuable accessory/outfit do you own?

My smile. Happiness looks gorgeous on anybody

 Ever experienced any wardrobe malfunction?

Wardrobe malfunctions?? What are thoooose?? Lol (laughs hysterically)

If you were given an opportunity to ban or get rid of one fashion trend…which one would it be and why? I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Those tu-suits without sleeves that politicians wear should be a punishable offense. Also not understanding your body type and dressing according to a magazine and not your individuality is a big No-No

What is that particular item/piece you can never miss in your wardrobe or outfit?

It’s always changing. It used to be scarf’s but right now its fresh kicks. I believe you can tell the character/mindset of a man by the shoes he wears. Even H_art the band know ku-uliza kiatu. (Laughs)

Any fashion/style secret you would like to share….Any fashion advice perhaps?

Seek to understand yourself. Once you do your style statements become extensions of your personality. And when you dress for your personality you’re ahead of the pack.

PS

THE MULLET ATTIRE

DESIGN FOR FIT LOVED FOR SYLE – THE MULLET ATTIRE

Create your own style…let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others - Anna Wintour

On location the beautiful sceneries, leafy green grounds and breathe taking atmosphere…would be our site for today….

I simply like dressing up and with this particular outfit had to outdo myself and achieve that final “wow“look. The thing about mullet skirts is that they can be rocked at any event like the red carpet, weddings or even the not-so formal affair.

Black sheer top to pair it with the arctic color (shade of blue) of the skirt, and some gorgeous oxblood strappy heels. Have your make up done so lightly to avoid overshadowing your outfit and should blend in perfectly. And to top it off I settled with a pair of golden accessories.
